THIRD TROPHY FOR LEEDS UNITED

Bradford City Beaten in W.R. Senior Cup

AFTER EXTRA TIME

Leeds United won their third Trophy of the season last night, when they defeated Bradford City after extra time, by 4 goals to 2 at Elland Road in the final of the West Riding Senior Cup competition. Other successes by Leeds United this season have been the winning of the Central League championship and the Yorkshire League Cup. United were the first to open the scoring last night when, following a free kick taken by Hampson, Trainer passed the ball in front of goal for Kelly to beat Parker. This was immediately followed by Turner tricking Moore to send across a line centre, which Hargreaves headed into the net. City fought back in spirited fashion, and before the interval had reduced the United's lead with a goal by Murphy. The second half produced a hectic struggle, with the City going all out for the equaliser. After several desperate attempts to score, Deakin eventually equalised with a brilliant drive, and extra time was necessary.

Persistent Trainer

During this period United scored twice, the first goal being the outcome of persistency on the part of Trainer, who followed up a pass from Furness to beat Parker, and place the ball into an empty net. Though the visitors staged another rally, Milburn and Holley stood firm, and before the end Hargreaves added to the score. United thus won their third trophy of the season, having previously gained the Central League championship and the Yorkshire League Cup. The cup was presented to George Milburn, the United captain, by the deputy Lord Mayor of Leeds (Councillor B. W. Goodall).
